Afrocop

Genre: Afro-pop , Jazz , Soul

  1. Friday, January 05 8:30 PM (21+)

Seattle trio Afrocop performs improvised soundscapes of soul, afrobeat, breakbeat, sci-fi and jazz. Chicago native Noel Brass Jr. (keys) formed the band as a means to express his psychedelic gospel leanings. Veteran Seattle players Andy Sells (FCS North, Cascadia ’10, Fascination Nation) & Carlos Tulloss (Screens, Stereo Sons, Undersea Passage) bring the beats and low end to the mix.

“One of Seattle’s best bands… create a rarefied strain of psychedelic, soulful jazz that exists in that cool, sweet zone where the music of Lonnie Liston Smith, Medeski, Martin + Wood, and Spiritualized at their most abstract intersect.”

Amigos Nobles

Genre: Blues , Flamenco , Guitarist , Jazz

  1. Thursday, December 21 5:00 PM (21+)

Amigos Nobles plays an intense, unique brand of instrumental, classical guitar-based Euro-Mediterranean, World Beat Fusion.

Amigos Nobles consists of Pacific Northwest musicians Jerry Wirkkala on guitars, Richard Ferguson on guitar & bass and Angelo Ortiz on percussion.

Jerry Wirkkala is a masterful guitarist who's been fusing nuevo flamenco, blues and jazz and has been performing around the Seattle area for a number of years.  Jerry was recently joined by long-time friend Richard Ferguson.

Richard Ferguson has been a rock player for many years.  After attending a Gipsy Kings concert Richard became inspired, purchased a classical guitar and began learning the Euro-Nuevo Flamenco style songs Jerry was playing.  With his rock roots always present, Richard's unique sound adds a special element to Amigos Nobles.  With the addition of Percussionist Angelo Ortiz, Amigos Nobles began evolving into something greater than anticipated.

Angelo Ortiz is a well-known , gifted percussionist, recently named Best Instrumentalist by the Washington Blues Society in 2016.  Angelo has had multiple previous nominations for best percussionist and has appeared on the cover of "Big City Rhythm and Blues Magazine, a nationally published music trade magazine.  Angelo has also played with notable greats Randy Oxford and Lee Oskar, and appears on many CDs and recordings around the Northwest.

The band picked the name Amigos Nobles because the name means "Noble Friends" and not only represents the Mediterranean- style of their music, but also the friendship they have developed.  Together, Amigos Nobles has recently been performing their unique style of music regularly in the Pacific Northwest.  Our debut LP "Escape Barcelona" has the blends of the bands roots which consist of rock, salsa, blues, and jazz.

Amigos Nobles has played a number of high profile local events and venues, such as Bite of Seattle, Taste of Tacoma, Hard Rock Cafe, Mt Si Summer Concert Series and Freedom Fest, as well as a number of wineries, restaurants and lounges in Washington and Oregon.  Many of Amigos Nobles' shows have been played to capacity crowds.

Everyone, from rockers & metal heads to blues crowds love the music of Amigos Nobles.  The guitar work is amazing, along with very intelligent, meaningful percussion,  Amigos Nobles's music is very energetic, feels really good to listen to, and fans enjoy seeing the intensity Amigos Nobles plays with.

Birch Pereira & the Gin Joints

Genre: Swing , Jazz

  1. Friday, January 05 5:00 PM (21+)

Born out of a love of the early years of swing, americana and rock 'n 'roll, Birch Pereira & the Gin Joints is a band whose sound transports you to the time of speakeasies, honky-tonks and roadhouses. With upright bassist and vocalist Birch Pereira at its center, the band features many of Seattle's most skilled and versatile musicians who share the love of the American song traditions and a desire to offer a fresh angle on them.

The band's debut album, Dream Man, was released independently and received the Earshot Jazz Golden Ear Award for Northwest Recording of the year in 2016. Fans, critics and deejays have delighted in Birch Pereira's "old soul," tenor voice, the group's clean stripped-down arrangements of musical gems from the past and Pereira's ever growing repertoire of original, yet period evoking material. The musicians assembled on record and for live performance stand out both for their obvious skill and for the obvious passion that all of the contributing players have for each of these great musical eras. The skill and passion result in performances that act like aural time traveling experiences.

The Gin Joints perform with a variety of personnel and instruments, which allows the group to play venues as diverse as sit down dinner theaters to clubs, festivals and dances. Featured members of the Gin Joints includes Jason Goessl on guitar, Adrian Van Batenburg on drums, Steve Tressler on saxophone/clarinet and Ray Larsen on trumpet, in addition to guest vocalists Jimmie Herrod and Kate Voss. Over time the band has featured an ever group of musicians based out of Seattle, New Orleans and New York City.

Casey MacGill (Duo)

Genre: Swing , Jazz

Casey MacGill is the heart and soul of the band. From California, he is a classic Hollywood character in appearance and style. MacGill plays boogie-woogie, swing, and stride piano. He blows a lyrical jazz cornet, and his most unique instrumental voice is a 6-string tenor ukulele. He has been singing and arranging vocal harmonies for over 40 years, in a career that stretches from Los Angeles (Mood Indigo, feature films "Frances" and "Swing Shift") to Spokane, WA (The Spirits of Rhythm and the neo-swing classic CD "Jump") to Broadway (The musical "Swing") and finally to Seattle (most recently with the Blue 4 Trio). "I've played a lot of music with a lot of people," he says "and one thing I've learned is to tailor my arrangements to the individual players. It gives each musical situation a unique sound." He steers the band from his piano bench, alternately cruising along and sweating feverishly, switching intuitively between the ukulele and the piano and the cornet, singing and scatting, sometimes all within the same song.
